CATMAS SONGS AND POEM
1. Laughing All The Way
Sung to the tune of "Jingle Bells"
Me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me. Me, me, me, me, me, me, me. Me, me, me, me, me, me, me, hey!
Slinking through the yard, on the way to catch some prey, silent as can be, and snickering all the way, hey! hey! hey! If
Birdie hears my bell, and makes a get away, it's no big deal, I get free meals, I'll go my merry way, hey!
Me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me. Me, me, me, me, me, me, me. Me, me, me, me, me, me, me, hey!
Napping on the couch, in the sun is where I'll stay. While all the humans work so hard, I'm laughing all the way, hey!
hey! hey! I rise and take a stretch, then snack and take a stroll. Why work so hard and be so cross, when you can be
on the dole? Hey!
Me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me. Me, me, me, me, me, me, me. Me, me, me, me, me, me, me, hey!
2. Away in a Basement
Sung to the tune of "Away in a Manger"
Away in a basement, old rags for a bed, the little lost kitten lay down his sweet head. Snow, through a cracked
window, blew in where he lay; the little lost kitten found shelter that day.
His tummy was growling, his paws were like ice; some cream and a blankey would make him feel nice. He mewed for
his mommy; he'd lost her he feared, and prayed for a family as nighttime drew near.
The kitty awakened, his head in a whirl; curled up, warm and snugly in the arms of a girl. His own little angel, she
made him her own; on this Catmas eve, Kitty found his new home.
3. Paws on the Rooftop
Sung to the tune of "Up on the Housetop"
Paws on the rooftop, pitter pat. Look! It's fat old Santa Cat! He jumps in Santa's pack and down they go. What a
stupid way to get out of the snow!
Meow, meow, meow, who wouldn't go? Meow, meow, meow, who wouldn't go? Ho! Paws on the rooftop, pitter pat.
Down through the chimney like dirty rats.
4. We Wish You a Merry Catmas
Sung to the tune of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
We wish you a Merry Catmas. We wish you a Merry Catmas. We wish you a Merry Catmas. And a Happy New Year!
Good tidings we bring to kitties and cats. Good tidings for Catmas and a Happy New Year!
Oh, give us some mice and birdies. Oh, give us some mice and birdies. Oh, give us some mice and birdies. We want
them right now!
We don't like the doggies 'cause they're such big dopes. They're loud and they're stupid and don't cover their poops.
We wish you a Merry Catmas. We wish you a Merry Catmas. We wish you a Merry Catmas. And a Happy New Year!
We don't have to beg, cause we have such style. Good, bad or indifferent, we still make you smile.
Oh, give us some mice and birdies. Oh, give us some mice and birdies. Oh, give us some mice and birdies. We want
them right now! We don't have the time for stress and regret. We'd rather be lazy and be pampered pets.
We wish you a Merry Catmas. We wish you a Merry Catmas. We wish you a Merry Catmas. And a Happy New Year!
5. Bark, The Dopey Doggie Sings
Sung to the tune of "Hark, The Herald Angels Sing"
Bark, the dopey doggie sings, "Glory to the Kitty king!" Panting, drooling and servile, never will we reconcile. Joyful all
ye kitties rise, scratch the doggies on their eyes. Arching, hissing and proclaim, "Making friends is really lame!" Bark,
the dopey doggie sings, "Glory to the Kitty king!"
Kitties are the most adored! Doggies are such dreadful bores! Cats deserve in homes to dwell, dogs outside, they really
smell. Doggies, when they're called they come. Kitties, they will turn and run. Dog poops make the yard a sty, cats
don't bring in all those flies! Bark, the dopey doggie sings, "Glory to the Kitty king!"
How could creatures so opposed, come together nose to nose? Dogs you know the price of peace! Give us space,
stay on your leash! Stop the chase and let us be. We demand tranquility! Don't forget we rule the earth. Give us all a
wide, wide birth! Bark, the dopey doggie sings, "Glory to the Kitty king!"
6. Cats Rule the World
Sung to the tune of "Joy to the World"
Cats rule the world, the kitties are king, Let can-openers ring! Let every hearth, prepare them room, And birdies and
mousies sing, And birdies and mousies sing. And birdies, and birdies and mousies sing.
Cats rule the world, the kitties reign, with all their charms and toys, Their hair balls, vet bills, ticks and fleas, and
knocking down the Catmas tree, Are not meant to annoy. They bring your home such joy. They bring, they bring
your home such joy!
7. Litter Box Time
Sung to the tune of "Auld Lang Syne"
Should litter boxes be forgot; how could it slip your mind? The stench is unbelievable; the fumes could make you
blind.
For auld litter-time, my dear, we sing this festive rhyme, a tidy box o'litter mix, rejoice at Catmas time.
And sure ye'll see how vile it is, for cats to spend their time, to dance among the pees and poos, 'tis a crime 'agin
cat-kind.
For auld litter-time, my dear, we sing this festive rhyme, a tidy box o'litter mix, rejoice at Catmas time.
Our yowling 'tis a sign my friend, this cruelty of thine, will drive us to relieve ourselves on yonder Catmas pine.
For auld litter-time, my dear, we sing this festive rhyme, a tidy box o'litter mix, rejoice at Catmas time.
And to avoid a hissy fit, our dainty paws must find, a snow-white patch o' litter mix, would surely be sublime.
For auld litter-time, my dear, we sing this festive rhyme, a tidy box o'litter mix, rejoice at Catmas time.
So take ye' trusty scooper tool, and Sol that smells o' pine, to make this box a worthy place for all feline behinds.
For auld litter-time, my dear, we sing this festive rhyme, a tidy box o'litter mix, rejoice at Catmas time.
8. O' Come All Ye Selfish
Sung to the tune of "O' Come All Ye Faithful"
O' come all ye selfish, coy and self-indulgent. Come all ye kitties to the festivities. Come and be petted, praised and
given presents.
O' come let us be given. O' come let us be given. O' come let us be given, all that we want.
Sing choirs of kitties, sing in exultation. Sing of our fickle ways, our poise and our charms. Sing of our beauty, style
and insincerity.
O' come let us be given. O' come let us be given. O' come let us be given, all that we want.
Rub up against them, worshipping and fawning. Give them a little of our precious time. Let them feel needed, so we
will be treasured.
O' come let us be given. O' come let us be given. O' come let us be given, all that we want.
9. God Rest Ye Napping Kitty-Cats
Sung to the tune of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"
God rest ye napping, kitty-cats, let nothing you dismay. Remember all the savory treats you get on Catmas day. The
noise and games and 'lectric trains, will soon be put away. O' tidings of catnaps enjoyed, catnaps enjoyed. O' tidings
of catnaps enjoyed.
The Catmas dinner's being served, the festive guests they came. And now you get your chance to nap among the
gifts they gave. An open box, a sweater dear, is calling out your name. O' tidings of catnaps enjoyed, catnaps enjoyed.
O' tidings of catnaps enjoyed.
10. Tom Cat Fights
Sung to the tune of "Silent Night"
Tomcat fights! Tomcat fights! All is calm, in the still of the night.
Guarding their cat-dom, so sneaky and snide. They skulk in the darkness and wait there and hide. Sneak in heavenly
peace! Sneak in heavenly peace!
Tomcat fights! Tomcat fights! All is calm, in the still of the night. Caterwauling travels afar, warns yon' Tom he better
beware.
He'll be sorry he was ever born. He'll be sorry he was born. Tomcat fights! Tomcat fights! All is calm, in the still of the
night. Claw him and bite him all over his face.
Porch lights go on all over the place. You slink off, filled with mirth. You slink off, filled with mirth.
11. Fill Our Bowls
Sung to the tune of "Deck the Halls"
Fill our bowls with lots of crunchies. Fa la la la la, la la la la! Satisfy our holiday munchies. Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Give us lots of cream and fishies. Fa la la la la, la la la la! Grant our every kitty wishy. Fa la la la la, la la la la!
See the birdie cage before us. Fa la la la la, la la la la! Listen to the nervous chorus. Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Unlock the door and then ignore us. Fa la la la la, la la la la! While we munch on what's before us. Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Celebrate what really matters. Fa la la la la, la la la la! Naps and games and getting fatter. Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Being warm and out of the weather. Fa la la la la, la la la la! Hedonists, we stick together. Fa la la la la, la la la la!
12. Fluffy The Fat Cat
Original hip hop music
Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Look at Fluffy go! Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Down
went the mistletoe!
Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Look at Fluffy go! Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Down
went the mistletoe!
Fluffy the Fat Cat, was a jolly, selfish soul. With a big fat gut, and stuff to strut. And eyes in the dark that glowed.
Fluffy the Fat Cat had a funky tail they say. That he knew just how to swish and whirl. To always get his way.
Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Look at Fluffy go! Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Down
went the mistletoe!
Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Look at Fluffy go! Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Down
went the mistletoe!
There must have been some catnip. In that old brown bag he found. When he poured it onto his head. He began to
roll around. Oh, Fluffy the Fat Cat was as high as he could be! And the kitties say that he danced his way. To the top
of the Catmas tree.
Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Look at Fluffy go! Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Down
went the mistletoe! Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Look at Fluffy go! Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity,
crash, crash! Down went the mistletoe!
Fluffy the Fat Cat lost a life that fateful Eve. As the tree came down with a shattering sound. He knew it was time to
leave.
Fluffy was crafty, and escaped through an open door. Darting here and there, in the open air. Yo, "Catch me if you
dare!"
Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Look at Fluffy go! Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Down
went the mistletoe! Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Look at Fluffy go! Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity,
crash, crash! Down went the mistletoe!
Led them through the house that night. Right through the smoke and flame. All the firemen pointed and cried, "He's
the one to blame!" Oh, Fluffy the Fat Cat was as proud as he could be. He yawned and purred and warmed his fur.
By the flames of the Catmas tree.
Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Look at Fluffy go! Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Down
went the mistletoe!
Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash! Down went the mistletoe! Crashity, crash, crash! Crashity, crash, crash!
Down went the mistletoe!
13. 'Twas the Night Before Catmas
'Twas the time before Catmas, and all or' the earth, The season of giving was lacking in mirth.
With shopping and wrapping and trimming and such, The Season of Giving was proving too much!
The focus on More had spun out of control, The pressures and stresses were taking a toll.
To make matters worse, it was such a pity, That nobody thought of including their kitty!
Kitties, they reasoned, had a natural right, To be at the center of this gift-giving rite.
If children could warrant such a stew and a fuss, Giving gifts to the kitties was surely a must!
For no creature can take as well as a cat, They're perfectly selfish, and no one doubts that.
And takers are needed for givers to give, Takers give givers a reason to live!
The humans were missing this obvious link, Until a wise kittycat caused them to think.
Seen playing with tinsel and balls on the tree, His human was charmed by his own kitty's glee.
On the morning of giving, the kitty still napped, Snug under the tree where his gifts were all wrapped.
When the giggling of children invaded his dream, He woke and he wondered what could all of this mean?
He crawled under wrappings and into big boxes, He lay on a sweater, he sniffed at some soxes.
He found his toy mousie, the ball on a string, A furry new pillow, what a heavenly thing!
The humans were charmed by these kittycat feats, They cuddled and scratched him, they fed him cat treats.
They made up new words to the songs and the hymns, Which told of the antics of kitties like him.
The pressure for More dissolved in good measure, As humans delighted in kitty's own pleasure.
See, the goal of a kitty is not to have More, But to make good of something so life's not a bore.
Each year on this day, the scene was repeated, With his favorite foods, the kitty was treated.
New catgifts created, cat ornaments hung, Amusing Cat Carols elaborately sung.
They called it all Catmas, The Season of Taking, And kitty grew famous for this fete of his making.
He symbolized all that the season held dear, And became Father Catmas for cats far and near.
As kitty grew older and slower and gray, He cherished the ritual of his Catmas Day.
When his ninth life was over, and his last purr had ended, His soul straight to Santa's Village ascended!
There, kitty joined Santa, the elves and the Mrs., Who labored year round to make toys for the kidzes.
They welcomed the kitty, "Hurray! Santa Cat!" You'll spread tidings of Catmas all over the map.
Santa Cat's duties were just right for a cat, While elves worked like crazy, he mostly just napped.
He saved all his powers for his Catmas eve flight, To inspect homes with kitties, to see Catmas done right.
'Cause, it's humans' great duty to provide for their cats, A Catmas that makes them feel loved, and that's that! And
Santa Cat's tally of naughty and nice is intended For humans, so take my advice.
So each year on the eve of this most joyous day, Kitty rides with his Santa on the seat of his sleigh.
In Santa's coat pocket kitty clings as they jump, Down the chimneys of homes, with hardly a bump.
He snoops for cat presents and saucers of crème, And purrs to each kitty their own Catmas dream.
He tallies each house, whether naughty or nice, And blesses those homes that bring Catmas to life!
You can always detect Santa Cat has been there, 'Cause the sweet scent of catnip hangs in the night air.
"Happy Catmas!" cries Santa Cat from the sleigh in the sky, Then back home to the North Pole with Santa he'll fly.
This story of Catmas is true, I do swear, I know every detail because I was there. See the cat who loved Catmas and
became Santa Cat, It's me, I'm that kitty, and that is a fact!
